Ticking Clock Christmas Do December 2023

The Story Behind Ticking Clock Brew Co.

When you step into the world of Ticking Clock Brew Co., you’re not just entering a brewery; you’re becoming part of a story that’s as rich and layered as the beers we craft. Nestled in the heart of Shireoaks, Worksop, Ticking Clock Brew Co. is the brainchild of two friends, Jamie and Ben, who share a passion for beer, music, and a commitment to brewing excellence.

Meet Jamie: The Event Maestro and Reforestation Advocate

With a background in events, Jamie knows how to create experiences that linger in the mind long after the last note fades. Whether organising large-scale tradeshows or intimate gatherings, his knack for bringing people together has always been at the core of what he does.

But there’s another side to Jamie—his dedication to the environment. In recent years, he’s become deeply involved in reforestation efforts, driven by a desire to impact the planet positively. This passion for sustainability is something he’s brought into Ticking Clock, ensuring that the brewery operates with a mindful approach to its environmental footprint.

When he’s not orchestrating events or planting trees, Jamie is likely to be found running through the Nottinghamshire countryside or paddling down The Chesterfield Canal in his kayak, always with a soundtrack playing in his ears. Music, much like beer, is a constant in Jamie’s life, fueling his creativity and inspiring the brewery’s vibrant, eclectic atmosphere.

Meet Ben: The Engineering Mind and Beer Aficionado

Ben, on the other hand, brings a different kind of genius to the table. A software engineer by day, Ben has a mind that sees the world in systems and structures. He’s the kind of person who can look at a piece of machinery, take it apart in his head, and put it back together in a way that’s even better than before. This meticulous, problem-solving mindset is a huge asset in the brewing world, where precision and attention to detail are everything.

But Ben isn’t just about logic and numbers; he’s also a lover of good beer and good times. His approach to brewing is methodical, but it’s also driven by a deep appreciation for the craft. He sees brewing as a blend of art and science, where the right combination of ingredients and techniques can create something truly special.

A Fateful Meeting and the Birth of Ticking Clock Brew Co.

The story of Ticking Clock Brew Co. begins at a wedding, where Jamie and Ben first met. Their connection was immediate, not just because they were the bookends of two families (Jamie’s brother-in-law is Ben’s brother-in-law), but because they quickly discovered a shared love for beer, music and bad jokes. As the night wore on, fueled by great conversation and a few pints, a friendship began to take shape.

Despite both nearing 40 and having full-time jobs, Jamie and Ben decided to take the plunge. They knew it wouldn’t be easy, but they also knew they had something unique to offer. What started as a conversation over a few beers soon turned into a full-blown passion project, and before they knew it, Ticking Clock Brew Co was born.

Crafting Beer with Passion and Precision

While Jamie and Ben may not take themselves too seriously, they are absolutely serious about the beer they brew. Each batch is a labour of love, crafted with the same care and attention to detail that you’d expect from two people who are passionate about what they do. They experiment with different hops, malts, and yeasts, always striving to create something new and exciting.

But more than that, they’re committed to making Ticking Clock Brew Co. a reflection of who they are—down-to-earth, fun-loving, and dedicated to their craft. Whether it’s through the beers they brew or the community events they plan to host at their upcoming taproom, Jamie and Ben are all about bringing people together and creating something that lasts.

Looking to the Future

As they continue to grow Ticking Clock Brew Co., Jamie and Ben remain true to their roots. They’re not looking to become the biggest brewery around; they just want to make great beer and share it with people who appreciate it. And while they both still work their day jobs, their hearts are fully in this venture, driven by a love of brewing, music, and the community they’re building.

So the next time you crack open a cold Ticking Clock beer, know that you’re not just drinking a beer—you’re sharing in the story of two friends, their passions, and their journey to create something truly special.
